2026-2027 TRAVEL TRYOUTS

The Garden Hockey Club is set to host its Tier II hockey tryouts, offering players the opportunity to compete at a high level within one of the region’s most competitive youth programs. Held at The Garden Ice Arena, these tryouts are designed to evaluate skill, hockey IQ, and overall competitiveness as teams are formed for the upcoming season.

The Tier II program features A and AA teams across multiple age groups, competing against top organizations throughout Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. Players are assessed through on-ice sessions, with selections based on performance, past experience, and team needs.

TIER 2 TRYOUT PROCESS

  • Players are evaluated through structured on-ice tryout sessions
  • Coaches assess skating, puck handling, hockey IQ, and game awareness
  • Multiple sessions may be used to evaluate consistency and overall performance
  • Players will be grouped and observed in small-area and full-ice scenarios
  • Final team placement is based on overall performance and roster needs
  • Players will be evaluated based on the quality and consistency of their skills, as well as their coachability and attitude both on and off the ice
  • Compete in high-tempo drills designed to simulate real game situations
  • Evaluation results are reviewed collaboratively by the coaching staff before final selections are made

Travel hockey is intended for those players seeking higher competition and for families who want to spend more of their time in the game. Travel teams begin practicing as early as August and continue through March. Players typically touch the ice 3–5 days per week and can expect 30 or more games over the course of a season.
