fall/winter Hockey Programming 2020
(register for Fall below)

A child's hockey journey at the Garden starts with...

1.  Learn to Skate.  If your child has never skated before, we highly recommend they begin in our
Learn to Skate program.

2.  Once they've passed Snowplow Sam 2 or Basic 2 in our Learn to Skate program, they can join Learn to Play (Ages 6 and below), our clinics, or the Garden Youth Hockey League.
3.  Clinics:  In the Fall, Spring, and Summer, The Garden Ice Arena runs hockey clinics for all ages and skills levels.  If you're child wants to play other than winter season, we suggest they join one of our seasonal clinics.
4.  The Garden Youth Hockey League:  The Winter season (Mid-Oct thru March) is when the Garden Youth Hockey League occurs.  Your child will play with other players their own age, 2-3 times per week.  Games will be on the weekends.  Signup @ www.bahablades.org
More than a Game
Hockey develops skills on the ice that build a foundation for a lifetime. In addition to athletic prowess, hockey promotes confidence, pride, focus and responsibility. With an emphasis on fun, hockey is a game to be played and enjoyed for life.

Life-long Friendships
Starting with the bonds created in the locker room to the relationships formed on ice, hockey creates life-long friendships. This camaraderie shared on and off the ice encourages teamwork and the natural development of leadership skills.

Set Up for Success
From learning to balance school, responsibilities at home, time at the rink and playing with friends, hockey encourages kids to learn time management skills that will later serve them in all facets of life. Hockey’s unique source of physical fitness promotes healthy living.

Hockey is Fun
The thrill of carrying the puck up the ice on a breakaway, the exhilaration of scoring your first goal or making that amazing save is possible due to the encouraging environment hockey provides to try new things and grow as a hockey player and person.

Three promises of Youth Hockey

1. PROMISE OF FUN
The thrill of carrying the puck up the ice, the exhilaration of scoring their first goal or the camaraderie of skating with friends is possible due to the fun and encouraging environment youth hockey provides to try new things and grow as a person.

2. PROMISE OF GUIDANCE
Youth hockey is unique because a new player must start from the very basics of essentially learning to walk again. Your local youth hockey program has instructors that are able to teach the sometimes challenging skills of ice hockey in a fun, engaging manner.

3. PROMISE OF ACHIEVEMENT
You will be amazed at the progress your child will make in a short amount of time. Both you and your child will walk away from the rink each day, excited about all the new things that your young hockey player has started to learn on the ice.
"Hockey participation offers families value beyond making an individual a better player or even a better athlete. The game of hockey is a powerful platform for participants to build character, foster positive values and develop important life skills. These benefits are available to all players, desirable to every family and transcend the game."
